Winchester Police Respond to Reported Bomb Threat at Walmart

WINCHESTER, Va. — On September 8, 2026, at approximately 7:39 p.m., Winchester Police Department officers responded to the Walmart on Pleasant Valley Road following a report of threats made at the store.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect had entered the store and made threats indicating that he would later bring a bomb. The individual later returned to the store carrying a backpack and made threats to shoot people inside the store.

Officers immediately took steps to ensure the safety of employees and customers and evacuated the store.

Officers from WPD, along with K-9 Teams from the Frederick County, VA Sheriff's Office, Berkeley County, WV Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County, WV Sheriff's Office, Loudoun County, VA Sheriff's Office, and the Virginia State Police, conducted a thorough search of the building. The building was cleared and no suspicious devices or items were located during the search.
