Shots Fired on N Kent St Leads to Arrest

On August 8th, at approximately 12:36 a.m., Winchester Police officers responded to the 500 block of N Kent St for a report of shots fired. No injuries or property damage were reported. Officers discovered shell casings in the area. Detectives processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. 

 

During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect and obtained arrest warrants for Miann Dyreek Harris, 23, of Winchester, Virginia. Harris was taken into custody this morning, on August 13th, and charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm (VA Code § 18.2-56.1) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (VA Code § 18.2-308.2).

 

After investigating, WPD assesses that this was an isolated incident and is not a larger threat to the community.
