Last night, the Winchester Police Department (WPD) responded to two separate and unrelated shots fired incidents.
The first call reported shots fired into a vehicle at the Sheetz on Millwood Avenue in Winchester, Va., around 8:20 p.m. on July 29.
While responding to the call at Sheetz, patrol officers found a crashed vehicle a little over a mile away at the intersection of Woodstock Lane and North Pleasant Valley Road. After investigating, a male with multiple gunshot wounds was found in the vehicle along with an uninjured passenger. The injured victim was transported to Winchester Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Hausaun Salem Amen Richardson of Hagerstown, Md., and an unidentified second suspect were last seen leaving Sheetz in a 2019 silver Honda CR-V. WPD is working with regional partners and federal task forces to help identify and locate both suspects.
Later in the night, around 1:30 a.m. on July 30, officers responded to a call reporting shots fired at 1731 Valley Avenue. The incident did not result in any injuries, but officers found gunshot damage to the house. This is the second call for shots fired at this address within the last four months.
WPD’s ongoing investigation suggests that last night’s incidents were likely unrelated. Chief Lewis has assigned all necessary resources to these serious cases, and WPD will provide updates as more information becomes available. The safety and well-being of our community remain our top priority.
