Report of Shots Fired on Fairview Avenue Leads to Arrest
Report of Shots Fired on Fairview Avenue Leads to Arrest
Published on May 28, 2026
On May 27th, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Winchester Police officers responded to the 600 block of Fairview Avenue following a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located an individual suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Officers provided medical assistance until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on scene, after which the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) processed the scene and collected physical evidence, including shell casings and video evidence. During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect and obtained arrest warrants for Remy Devontae Farrell-Jury, of Stephens City, Virginia. Farrell-Jury was taken into custody this morning, on May 28th, and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding (VA Code 18.2-51.2) and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place (VA Code 18.2-280).
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police assisted with this investigation. After investigating, WPD assesses that this was an isolated incident and is not a larger threat to the community.
