WPD Launches Tip411 App for Enhanced Community Safety
Published on July 17, 2026
The Winchester Police Department is launching a new mobile app that allows residents to partner with the Department to take an active role when it comes to public safety. With the new Winchester PD app, residents will receive alerts, access important information, and submit anonymous tips directly from their smartphones.
Developed by tip411, the Winchester PD app expands the Department’s community policing efforts by putting a powerful new communication and crime-fighting tool into the hands of community members of all ages. The app is available for free download via the Google Play Store or the iTunes App Store.
"Our department believes that strong partnerships with our community are essential to preventing crime and keeping Winchester safe," said Chief Lewis. "The Winchester PD app provides residents with a safe and completely anonymous way to share information with our officers, helping us work together to solve crimes, address community concerns, and continue building the trust that is the foundation of effective policing."
The new Winchester PD app enables the public to submit anonymous tips to police and allows officers to respond back through a secure two-way anonymous conversation when additional information is needed.
The Winchester PD app and tip411 anonymous tip system are 100% anonymous, as the technology removes all identifying information before officers receive the tips and there is no way to identify the sender. This ensures that there is no possibility that the sender’s name or location will be known by anyone other than the sender.
Residents without a smartphone can still submit anonymous tips by texting the word WINCHESTERPD and their message to 847-411 (tip411).
Anonymous web tips can also be submitted through the Winchester Police Department website at https://www.winchesterpolice.org/Services/Tip411.
The department encourages residents to download the Winchester PD app today so it is readily available whenever they have information that could help protect the community.
