On August 27, at 4:30 pm, the Winchester Police Department responded to Christianson Familyland in Jim Barnett Park for a report of an incident involving drugs. When officers arrived, they made contact with Nickie J. Latimer, 23, of Winchester, who was sitting in a parked tan Chevrolet sedan. The officer detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle which also had a three-year-old child inside. Following a search of the vehicle, a burnt cigarette believed to contain marijuana, a small amount of green plant material believed to be marijuana, and a glass smoking device was found.
Latimer was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Child Endangerment and transported to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center. The child appeared to be unharmed and was released to a family member.
