Winchester Police in search of armed robbery suspect

At approximately 11:20 p.m. on March 1, 2018, Winchester Police responded to a call from Café Plus on Berryville Avenue for an armed robbery in progress.

The store clerk reported that the suspect entered the store and demanded that she give him money several times while brandishing a large butcher knife. Though the clerk denied his demands, the suspect was able to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was not injured. A K-9 track was initiated immediately following the incident, but was unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male of short stature who speaks with an accent and little English. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a blue bandana that covered the lower half of his face, blue sweatpants, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the front, a white undershirt, and gray Nike shoes. He was carrying a digital camouflage backpack (pictured) that he left at the scene.
