On July 19, 2018 at approximately 8:02 a.m., Officers A. Specksgoor and K. Nixon of the Winchester Police department were dispatched to the I-81 crossover bridge at Berryville Avenue for a report of a suicidal subject who appeared ready to jump.
When the officers arrived on scene, they observed the male, later identified as a 21-year-old resident of West Virginia, to be straddling the railing of the bridge and speaking with a Frederick County Sheriff’s deputy and one other citizen. As the male spoke to the deputy, the officers secured him and brought him down off the railing.
The officers then transported the male to the Winchester Medical Center. No injuries were sustained during the incident.
