Traffic violation leads to drug arrest

At approximately 12:38 a.m. on January 3, Winchester Police officers arrested Bridget Anne Golightly, 37, of Frederick County, after she was found in possession of crack cocaine. Golightly is being charged with possession of a controlled substance, disregard of a stop sign, and driving with a suspended license.

Officers attempted a traffic stop after witnessing a vehicle fail to stop for the posted stop sign at the intersection of Franklin and Elm Streets. The vehicle then sped through the Allen Drive and Woodstock Lane intersection where officers lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was found parked in the 900 block of Kinzel Drive. Officers approached the vehicle and identified Golightly as the driver. A search of her person led officers to discover crack cocaine.

Golightly is being held at the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center.
