Traffic stop results in drug, weapons seizure

Winchester Police initiated a traffic stop on Washington Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. on February 21 that resulted in the seizure of 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and multiple weapons including an AR-15 rifle, a handgun, and 13 knives. Matthew Mark Ruddle, 41, of Front Royal, was arrested and charged with possession of a scheduled drug, possession of firearms and drugs, and possession of weapon by a felon.

Officers initiated the traffic stop after witnessing a traffic infraction. Five loaded magazines with assorted ammunition, night vision equipment, and nearly $3,000 in cash were found in the vehicle along with the aforementioned weapons and drugs.

Ruddle was transported to the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
