Police seize nearly two pounds of marijuana from city residence


The Winchester Police Department arrested Justin Steven Burkhardt, 32, of Winchester after finding nearly two pounds of marijuana and other items in his home in the 200 block of East Whitlock Avenue. Burkhardt is being charged with one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana.


During the afternoon of September 12, a Winchester Police officer served a protective order to Burkhardt and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence. A warrant to search the residence was obtained by police, who uncovered nearly two pounds of marijuana - valued at approximately $3,000 - in bedrooms and basement rooms. Ninety unidentified pills were also seized and will be sent to a lab for testing. Multiple forms of drug paraphernalia and a replica revolver BB gun were also confiscated.


Three juveniles, ages 13, 12, and 10, who were in the home were safely removed and released to a family member.


Burkhardt was transported to the Northwester Regional Adult Detention Center and is being held on $2,500 bond.
