Police Arrest Man on Abduction and Drug Charges


On April 23, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Winchester Police Department (WPD) officers responded to the 500 block of Brookfield Drive after receiving a 9-1-1 hang-up call.  The Emergency Communications Center also received information from Berkeley County, WV dispatch advising a female was kidnapped at gunpoint.


An investigation determined the female victim was at a home on Smithfield Avenue when her boyfriend arrived and forced her inside an SUV.  The male drove to a home on Brookfield Drive.  The 24-year-old victim did not suffer any physical injuries.


During the investigation, officers recovered a handgun and multiple items consistent with the distribution of narcotics.


Gustavo Argumedo-Munoz, 22, is charged with abduction, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, distribution of a controlled substance, assault and battery of a family member and providing false identification to a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held without bond at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.
