Lock-out call leads to weapon and drug charges

Just after 8:00 p.m. on January 24, Winchester Police officers responded to a business in the 2600 block of Valley Avenue for a report of tenants being locked out of their room. The initial investigation led officers to discover that management had locked the door after detecting drug use. Once the WPD and subjects were allowed inside, officers found multiple drugs and a firearm. Calan Liberty Bell, 30, of Winchester, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a firearm and drugs, and possession of marijuana.

The WPD seized suspected hallucinogenic drugs LSD (acid) and Dimethyltryptamine along with THC wax, paraphernalia, and a loaded semiautomatic 9-mm handgun with a magazine. The investigation led officers to determine that the drugs and firearm were possessed by Bell, whose record shows previous felony convictions.  The other occupant of the room has not been charged.

Bell was transported to the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center and held without bond.
