The Winchester Police Department will offer a Junior Academy for children ages 5-8 on Saturday, July 22, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Timbrook Public Safety Center. An additional session will be held on September 30. Sessions will take children through age-appropriate activities that mimic police officers’ activities, including:
- Obstacle course (training)
- Tour of building
- Dispatching a call and proper use of 911
- Solving a crime (dusting-for-fingerprints activity)
- Animal control (education and activity)
- Bike safety
- Fingerprinting each child
- And a visit from McGruff!
