Wanted teen hides inside residence for several hours

WINCHESTER, VA – At approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 17, 2022, Winchester Police Department (WPD) responded to the 500 block of Armour Dale Drive in an attempt to locate a teenage male who was wanted on outstanding charges of assault and a detention order.  Information was received that the male was inside a relative’s residence by himself and possibly armed with a firearm. 

 

Members of the WPD Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to communicate for several hours with the male to have him exit the residence.   After no response was received, members of WPD SWAT entered the residence at approximately 7:34 pm and took the male into custody without incident.  No firearms were located inside the residence. 

 

The male, from Winchester, was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.  No one was injured during the incident.  WPD was assisted by Virginia State Police and Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
