Police identify deceased man found in Town Run July 22

The Winchester Police Department (WPD) has identified the man found deceased in Town Run on July 22 as 62-year-old Kenneth Romick of Millwood Pike in Frederick County. An autopsy was performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office on July 23. Foul play is not suspected in Romick’s death.

At 2:10 pm today, the Winchester Emergency Communications Center received a report of an adult male floating in Town Run. Around the same time, City of Winchester Public Works Department work release crew members were returning to City Yards when they discovered the male floating in the waterway. The crew immediately removed the male from Town Run, and he was found to be unresponsive. Winchester Fire and Rescue was dispatched at 2:14 pm and the first unit arrived on scene at 2:16 pm. The male was pronounced deceased at 2:28 pm.

The Winchester Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. Foul play is not suspected at this time. The Winchester Police Department is working to confirm the male’s identity and notify next of kin.
