Scene Cleared After Suspicious Package
On January 18, 2013 around 11:30 a.m. Winchester Police were called to the Food Lion at 2600 Valley Avenue for the report of a suspicious package. The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene to assist in the investigation. Food Lion and the China House II restaurant were evacuated to ensure the safety of employees and patrons. The Bomb Squad x-rayed the package and found that there was nothing suspicious inside. The package was metal and appeared to be homemade. The scene was cleared and the stores were reopened around 3 p.m.
