Two Arrested for DUI During Sobriety Checkpoint
The Winchester Police Department issued 20 citations Saturday during a sobriety checkpoint. Forty-four year old Rajnish Sharma was arrested for driving under the influence and fifty-six year old Gary Lee Jenkins, Sr. was arrested for felony driving under the influence. The checkpoint was held during the nighttime hours of Saturday, February 9th. Four people were charged with revoked or suspended driver’s licenses, five individuals didn’t have a license, two were charged with possession of marijuana, two minors were charged with possessing alcohol, and one capias was served. A total of 190 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint.
When you drink and drive you put your life and the lives of others in danger. The Winchester Police Department wants to remind residents that if they plan on drinking to make arrangements for transportation before they head out.
