TECHNOLOGY

This section manages the computer issues for the department. This includes the maintenance and support of the majors systems, such as the Records Management System (RMS) and Mobile Data Computers (MDC). These systems house all of the reports taken by the patrol officers, data entry submissions, and all other software that is used in various capacities throughout the department. In addition to this the technology department must provide support to the Police Department users and more than 30 desktops, and 23 laptops, plus various smaller systems. This section is responsible for keeping abreast of the latest trends in technology to ensure that the Police Department and its officers have the best and most available resources to serve and protect the citizens of Winchester effectively and efficiently. The latest technological trend led to being able to place MDCs in the patrol cars. The technology department works with the City of Winchester IT department to guarantee that the technological advances are within reach.
