TECHNOLOGY

This section manages everything technology related for the department. This includes the maintenance and support of the major systems, such as the Records Management System (RMS) and the Mobile Data Computer (MDC) deployment. These systems house all of the reports taken by the patrol officers, data entry submissions, and all other software that is used in various capacities throughout the department. The technology services section provides support to all of the Police Department users and the associated technology infrastructure, including 7 servers, 45 desktops, 43 laptops, and various smaller systems. This section is responsible for keeping abreast of the latest trends in technology to ensure that the Police Department and its officers have the best and most available resources to serve and protect the City of Winchester citizens effectively and efficiently. The latest technological trend led to being able to place MDCs in the patrol cars. The technology services section works with the City of Winchester IT department to guarantee that the technological advances available today are within reach.
