KIDS ‘N’ COPS

The Winchester Police Department is looking forward to our annual Kids and Cops Program.  Kids and Cops is a week long camp designed to provide 84 local children ages 9-12 with the opportunity to learn about law enforcement, form friendships with police officers, and have a positive experience.  Since its implementation eight years ago, the camp has been a great success!  This would not have been possible without the support and donations of our generous sponsors.

In addition to our annual kickball tournament, the children participate in law enforcement demonstrations and competitions.  We also participate in a community service project.  This year we will be raising money throughout the week for the Timbrook Children’s Outreach Fund.  This program was established in memory of Sgt. Ricky Timbrook to carry on his memory and passion for helping the children of our community.  Additionally, our campers will be spending a day refurbishing the miniature golf course at Jim Barnett Park.

The camp will be held June 21 through 25, 2010.  Applications will be available through Winchester Parks and Recreation beginning April 5th.  As soon as we receive 96 participants, no more applications will be accepted.

For more information, please contact Amy Stotlemyer at 540-545-4722.  If you are interested in making a donation to the Camp, please contact Lt. Amanda Baker at 540-545-4716.
